Rubeo Test - Blood Test for Rubella

Generality

The rubella test (or Rubeo test) is a blood test that determines whether or not a person has contracted this infectious disease or has been vaccinated.

Rubella is a viral pathology, very dangerous if transmitted from mother to fetus during pregnancy; if contracted for the first time during gestation, it can in fact cause a set of alterations known as "congenital rubella syndrome", with vision and hearing abnormalities, heart disease and neurological disorders.

The Rubeo test is a "laboratory investigation that allows to detect a" current or previous infection of the rubella virus.

Furthermore, the examination allows to evaluate the protective levels of antibodies against the disease which, if contracted for the first time in pregnancy, especially in the first 4 months of gestation, can cause serious malformations in the fetus.
