Low molecular weight heparins are administered subcutaneously. Normally, the medicinal specialties that contain them are available in pre-dosed syringes, therefore pre-filled and ready to use: the drug can be used directly by the patient who can proceed with the injection in a completely autonomous way.
It should be noted, however, that injection is a health practice: if it is not performed correctly it can cause side effects (in the case of heparin, the most frequent risk is pain or the appearance of bruises) or even serious adverse reactions. For this reason, in case of doubt, it is always necessary to consult your doctor before proceeding.
