The pathological process is characterized by the formation of a bone plate with well-differentiated margins or by the irregular elevation of the bone surface. At the origin of periostitis, in fact, there are pathological events (trauma, infections, etc.) which stimulate the production of bone tissue by the osteoblasts (cells usually responsible for building the bone matrix through a deposition process).
