Hydrops is the term by which doctors refer to any accumulation of fluid in subcutaneous tissues, in hollow anatomical structures or in serous cavities.
There are various types of hydrops; the most well-known and worthy of mention are: fetal hydrops, endolymphatic hydrops and gallbladder hydrops.
Hydrops fetalis is a serious medical condition characterized by the accumulation of fluid in the subcutaneous tissues and serous cavities of a fetus or newborn.
Endolymphatic hydrops is a disease of the vestibular system of the inner ear, which is characterized by an abnormal accumulation and circulation of endolymph.
Finally, gallbladder hydrops is the accumulation of mucus and watery fluid inside the gallbladder (or gallbladder).
What is the hydrope?
Hydrops is the medical term for any accumulation of fluid in subcutaneous tissues, hollow anatomical structures or serous cavities, such as the pleural cavity, pericardial cavity or peritoneal cavity.
Types
There are various types of hydrops. The most important and well-known hydrops is, without doubt, the fetal hydrops.
However, endolymphatic hydrops and gallbladder hydrops also deserve mention.
