Fibrinogen

synthesized by the liver with the aim of promoting haemostasis (blood coagulation).
The plasma concentration of fibrinogen increases, in parallel with its synthesis rate, in the acute phase of various inflammatory stimuli. Plasma fibrinogen levels can also be genetically influenced.

Regardless of the cause, the increase in fibrinogen values ​​is associated with an increase in cardiovascular risk. More fibrinogen in circulation means a greater tendency for blood to clot, and vice versa.
