ASMR: What is Cerebral Orgasm and How Does it Work?

cerebral, or ASMR, refers to a "sensory experience induced by specific stimuli (whispered voices, slow and harmonious gestures, dry and rhythmic noises) and described as a state of relaxation, sometimes accompanied by a tingling at the base of the head, pleasure and, in some cases, euphoria.

Those who experience this phenomenon report a sensation similar to a shiver or an electric discharge that "comes in waves" - exactly like the "conventional" orgasm, even if it has little sexuality - in the head, along the back of the neck and of the upper spine. Sometimes, ASMR can extend to other parts of the body as well, mainly to the limbs.

The triggers, that is the stimuli capable of triggering the cerebral orgasm, can be different and very variable in relation to personal preferences, but often the ASMR is triggered by relaxing auditory and / or visual experiences: the starting point are almost always images and delicate and repetitive, hypnotic and reassuring noises.

For some people, the feelings of relaxation and fulfillment that follow brain orgasm have therapeutic potential for managing stress, anxiety, and insomnia.
