Due to its anatomical location and the functions in which it is involved, the prostate affects urination, erection and ejaculation. It is precisely the alteration of these physiological processes that triggers the suspicion of diseases affecting the gland. For men, the prostate is one of the most frequent sources of concern in advancing age: once the threshold of 50 is exceeded, this organ it tends to undergo benign prostatic hypertrophy and, under certain circumstances, prostate cancer (the most frequent in males) can arise.
