Chromone drugs
Prophylactic or preventive therapy with Chromoglycate or sodium nedocromil reduces cellular excitability by acting on the chlorine ion channels; the reduction of cellular activity results in: at the level of the sensitive nerve fibers of the airways in inhibition of cough; at the level of mast cells in inhibition of their degranulation; at the level of eosinophils in a reduction of the inflammatory response.
