Thanks to Bach flowers, it is possible: to help in momentary situations (for example, after a fright or a shock of moderate magnitude); support in the face of expected small difficulties (such as passing an exam); improve, with the help of other remedies, common mental situations (insomnia, anxious states, stress, asthenia, etc.); increase the effectiveness of other therapies, including allopathic ones, for the solution of common ailments and problems (menstrual dysfunctions, hormonal in adolescents or menopause, allergies, phobias, palpitations, addictions, etc.); support in particular phases of life (immediately after childbirth, during old age, during adolescent crises, during weaning, etc.), when he sees a situation that is not completely serene.
All this in people without major underlying psychological problems, or as a first approach for more disturbed people, but in the meantime directing them towards a psychic treatment suitable for them.
Bach flowers cannot: solve chronic psychological situations, which have been dragging on for years (in this case, however, you can recommend a trusted florotherapist in your area or, if the problem is more serious, direct you to psychotherapy); get results with people who take drugs or psychotropic drugs (in this case the effect of the flowers is nullified), cure organic diseases (even if it can help, from a psychological point of view, to bear them better).
Preparation according to the original method described by Dr. Bach
The flowers are collected, without touching them, in a glass tray that contains the water of a spring that is born near the place of collection. The tray with the infused flowers is placed in the sun in the place of collection for a few hours.
Some flower remedies are prepared with the boiling method. Instead of exposing the infusion to the sun, the flowers are boiled in spring water. Bach used the boiling method in cases where the soaking in the sun was not successful: either because of too low temperatures in the English spring, or because of the flowers that were too robust. In our climate we limit ourselves to making only the second group with the boiling method.
Once the maceration in the sun or boiling is finished, the infusion water is separated from the flowers and the same quantity of grappa is added to guarantee the product's shelf life. Bach used brandy, a grappa that is produced in England, as he considered it purer and more natural than the denatured alcohol normally used in medicines. The infusion thus obtained is called Madre.
The ready-to-use dilutions are prepared, according to Bach's instructions, as follows: fill a 30 ml bottle with water and a little grappa and add two or three drops of the Mother of each chosen flower.
Today on the market there are only floral remedies already diluted: the dilutions range from 1: 240 up to 5DH (= 1: 100,000), like the flowers prepared by the Bach Center.
Dosage
Flower remedies are used singly or in custom blends. The ready-to-use product is normally taken 4 drops 4 times a day, directly under the tongue.
There is no precise time, although two good times are in the morning on an empty stomach and in the evening before going to bed. It is preferable to take them between meals. If you feel the need, you can take them even more than 4 times a day. In acute cases, 4 drops of the ready-to-use remedy can be diluted in a glass of water, and drunk. sips of water throughout the day.
Precautions
None. Some Bach remedies can, in sensitive people, cause an initial aggravation. It is a phase of awareness that is part of the healing process. If the worsening causes prolonged inconvenience, it is sufficient to decrease the number of recruitments, to increase it again when the situation has recovered.
Prescription
It is an extremely simple therapy that, according to Bach, can be learned by anyone without the need for degrees or other qualifications.
It is possible to carry out a self-prescription after a careful study of the picture of the various flowers, choosing those that correspond most to one's problems. However, the best benefits are obtained when Bach flowers are recommended by a well-experienced flower therapist.
Another method consists in being guided in the choice by the remedies themselves, instinctively choosing one or more flowers from a deck of cards with drawings or photos of the flowers, or directly from the bottles containing the remedies.
Ingrediants
The products, in addition to the respective flower, contain "revitalized" water and grappa or another alcoholic. On the market you can also find mixtures in apple cider vinegar.
