are a characteristic feature of the face of each individual: the shape, color, volume and softness of this delicate area of the face are unique, not to consider the importance of their facial expressions when we talk, eat, smile and kiss. ShutterstockPrecisely these continuous movements are responsible for muscle contractions that stress the area around the mouth and make it particularly prone to blemishes, such as dryness, loss of firmness, fine lines and other signs of stress in the area.
When the lips are very thin, poorly delineated or asymmetrical, there are several solutions that guarantee corrections while respecting the natural proportions.
, it should be remembered that in the lips we can distinguish:- SKIN OF THE LIPS: it is the perioral area (ie around the mouth), which coincides with the anterior surface of the lip, equipped with keratinized epithelium. The cutaneous portion of the upper lip also includes the anatomical area located under the nose, in which a vertical furrow is recognizable, called the median sulcus or filter, and the two lateral ridges that delimit it (filter columns).
- LABIAL MUCOSA: corresponds to the dorsal margin of the lip (to be clear, it is the vermilion, that is the red and soft part of the lips);
- TRANSITION AREAS:
- The edge of the lips (it is the so-called "pink edge" of the lips, that is the part of transition between the mucous and the skin). The portion of skin of the upper lip that ends at the edge of the vermilion of the upper lip is called Cupid's bow.
- The labial commissures, i.e. the two corners of the mouth (note: the commissures are also called labial folds).
