Prostatic hypertrophy is a disease of the prostate, a chestnut-like gland located just below the bladder and in front of the rectum. Among the pathologies affecting the prostate, the most common is benign prostatic hypertrophy, known also as an adenoma of the prostate. The main symptom of prostatic hypertrophy is the decrease in the caliber and the urinary jet, with difficulty in urination consequent to the volumetric increase of the gland and the partial obstruction of the urethra that follows.
