E515 POTASSIUM SULFATE
Potassium sulfate (KHSO4) - also known as potassium bisulfate, potassium acid sulfate - is a natural mineral obtained from potassium salts and sulfuric acid. It comes in the form of crystals, deliquescent whites, flakes or granules. soluble in water, it is insoluble in ethanol
It acts as an acidity regulator and synthetic technological adjuvant. It can be used as a substitute for salt.
It can be used in various products and in particular it is used in the manufacture of beer, certain spirits, sugary drinks and in the production of low-sodium foods.
It can also be used by industry as a fertilizer and in some medicines.
At a high dosage, potassium sulfate could also lead to intestinal bleeding, but at the common doses of use there are no known side effects worthy of note.
