O-phenyl-phenol is a synthetic preservative, formed from phenyl ether. It appears as a white powder, insoluble in water, mainly used against fungi of the genus Penicillium, present mainly in citrus fruits, apples and pears, but also on plums, pineapples, cherries, etc. Penetrating into the peel, traces of O-Phenyl-Phenol could be present inside the fruit.
O-phenyl-phenol is a compound that is excreted by the kidneys without undergoing changes.
