E110 - YELLOW ORANGE S or SUNSET YELLOW FCF (C.I. 15985)
Orange Yellow S - otherwise known as Sunset Yellow FCF - is a synthetically produced orange yellow azo dye. Commonly found in: apricot jams, orange jelly cookies, instant chocolate drinks, instant soups, cream cheese, yogurt creams, marzipan, powdered pudding, and packaged breadcrumbs.
Risks: hyperactivity, asthma, hives, rashes, stomach pain, insomnia, vomiting; furthermore, there are studies supporting a possible carcinogenic effect.
Orange yellow S can cause allergic reactions; in particular, it is not recommended for asthmatics and people allergic to aspirin.
ADI DOSE: 2.5 mg per kg of body weight
