The examination involves the use of an instrument (electrocardiograph) capable of recording and graphically reporting the rhythm and electrical activity of the heart when subjected to intense physical exercise. The objective of the stress test is to identify the presence of heart problems that would not emerge in resting conditions.

- During physical exertion, i.e. pedaling on the cycle ergometer or walking / running on a mobile platform;
- After administration, drugs suitable for simulating the effects of physical activity on the heart (provocative pharmacological test).
At the request of the doctor, at the same time the consumption of oxygen and the variation in blood pressure levels can be assessed. In the cardiopulmonary exercise test, the response of the lungs and the change in values relating to respiratory function are also evaluated.
