To simplify, it is possible to consider the pandemic as a particular form of epidemic which, in a short time, due to its degree of contagiousness, crosses the borders of a nation and ends up appearing in different continents.
Over the centuries, several pandemics have occurred, including the most famous plague, cholera and Spanish fever. Beyond the historical examples, the most evident "modern" pandemic is represented by the flu, which occurs approximately annually, in areas spread over several continents, almost simultaneously.
The declaration of a pandemic implies the application of adequate measures to contain its spread, constantly updated with respect to the guidelines of the WHO.
