Headache is a disorder that can also occur during pregnancy. Most of the time, the cause of this manifestation is due to the hormonal changes that occur after conception.
A combination of various factors can also contribute to the onset of headaches during pregnancy, such as anxiety, fatigue, worsening sleep, morning sickness, poor eating habits and dehydration.Usually, pregnancy headaches can benefit from rest and from the use of simple remedies that are not dangerous for the unborn child, such as applying cold compresses on the forehead or performing massages at the base of the neck to relieve muscle tension.
If acute or recurrent, however, the headache in pregnancy should not be underestimated, as it can signal the presence of some complications that can affect gestation. For example, the disorder may be associated with mild anemia, respiratory tract infections and increased blood pressure.
Furthermore, when headache attacks arise suddenly, are particularly intense, last for more than three hours and are associated with other manifestations, such as vision problems and sudden swelling of the hands or face, they could be the "spy" pre-eclampsia This complication requires immediate medical attention.
