Generality
Granulocytes are white blood cells characterized:
- by the presence of granulations in the cytoplasm;
- from a nucleus that generally has more lobes;
For this last characteristic, granulocytes are sometimes assigned the adjective polymorphonuclear or nucleopolymorphs.
In relation to the affinity of the granulations with the different types of dye, there are three varieties:
- Eosinophilic granulocyte;
- Basophilic granulocyte;
- Neutrophil granulocyte.
