Generality
The hernia is a particular type of hernia, which arises at the level of the large scars resulting from "open" abdominal surgery. Not surprisingly, the surgical technique that involves the execution of large scars on the abdomen takes the specific name of laparotomy.

At the origin of the episodes of laparocele, there is a failure of the process of closing the surgical scar, resulting from the operation in laparotomy.
The presence of a laparocele is characterized by the formation of a protrusion, at the site where the scar is located.
Complications of the hernia include intestinal obstruction - if the bowel that escapes is the intestine - and constriction of the hernia.
The treatment of the spinal cord is surgical and consists in relocating the leaked bowel to its original location and in reinforcing the abdominal wall, to avoid a subsequent hernia.
