What is nervous hunger and why does it take us?
The causes can be biological and / or psychological
Biological causes
"Eating" while not being hungry is an "alteration of the control mechanism by the" hypothalamus. There are sentinels in the brain that warn the body when the sugar level is too low (decrease in blood sugar - hypoglycemia) and induce the need for food as a response and the actions to obtain it. Perhaps the basis of "obesity, of eating disorders in general and of nervous hunger in particular" lies precisely in the malfunctioning of these mechanisms.
Psychological causes
"Eating" despite not being hungry, being assaulted by an irrepressible impulse, by a compulsive act, taken by a raptus and gorging on anything, only to feel guilty immediately afterwards.
You can feel nervous hunger out of boredom, if for example we don't know what to do, out of anxiety, sadness, low self-esteem, loneliness.
Nervous hunger leads us to replace the affection, security or joy we do not have with food.
We think and reflect on the early stages of life, when the mother offers the feed to the crying baby, even if hunger is not the real reason for crying, creating confusion in the baby between the state of hunger and the state of request for affection.
Fighting nervous hunger
First step: eliminate the causes.
Understanding why we are sad, what causes us a certain anxiety, why we feel particularly alone. Questions that need to be answered in order to alleviate and decrease the episodes of nervous hunger.
Second phase: Physical exercise.
Constantly practicing a sport and / or practicing relaxation techniques (autogenic training, power yoga, pilates ...) definitely helps to calm nervous hunger.
Third phase: herbs and natural products
Citrus aurantium and rhodiola rosea are able to control nervous hunger.
Linden, lemon balm, angelica and passion flower help to calm states of anxiety.
The supplements based on glucomannan, guar gum, cellulose and inulin, on the other hand, not being well digested, swell in the stomach in the presence of water and give a sense of satiety.
LET'S ALWAYS REMEMBER, THAT HOWEVER THE MIND COMMANDS THE BODY !!
