Horehound of water in Herbalist: Properties of the Horehound of water
Polyphenols derived from chlorogenic and lithospermic acid, present in aquatic horehound, have been shown to reduce thyroid function; however, adequate clinical studies are not available in this regard. It can only be used by prescription in completely selected cases (tachycardia and hyperthyroidism) .
Contraindications
Avoid taking in case of ascertained hypersensitivity to one or more components.
Pharmacological interactions
- it can interfere with thyroid hormones and iodine metabolism.
