Shutterstock Cetirizine - Chemical Structure
Administered orally, cetirizine is found in the composition of many medicines formulated in the form of tablets, capsules, effervescent tablets, oral drops or oral solution. Some of these medicines, in order to be dispensed, require presentation of a repeatable medical prescription (RR); however, being classified as group A drugs - where provided (pathology exemption) - their cost can be reimbursed by the National Health System (SSN), partially or totally, depending on the case (payment of a small ticket may be required by the patient). Other medicines based on cetirizine, on the other hand, are considered SOP drugs (Without Obligation of Medical Prescription) and can, therefore, be freely purchased at the expense of the citizen (class C drugs).
