To understand...
Kiwi is a fruit belonging to the Actinidiaceae family. More specifically, it is a fleshy and edible berry having the shape that resembles that of a medium-sized potato. The most common varieties are the gold kiwifruit (with amber / gold colored flesh) and the kiwifruit with green flesh. There are also red varieties of kiwifruit (less known).
The pulp contains numerous black seeds arranged in a radial pattern around the center of the berry and is always surrounded by a brown peel with piles.
Kiwis provide 44 Kcal / 100 g, mainly supplied by sugars (fructose). Fats, present in minimal quantities, are mostly unsaturated triglycerides. Furthermore, kiwis are rich in alpha-linolenic fatty acid, the progenitor of omega 3 (33.6 mg per kiwi).
Among the amino acids that make up the proteins (of good VB) we remember: aspartic acid, glutamic acid and arginine.
Being rich in potassium and ascorbic acid (vitamin C), kiwis are particularly suitable for the nutrition of sportsmen and hypertensive people.
The abundant presence of fiber makes the fruit a valid aid to stimulate intestinal motility (against constipation).
Doses ranging from 100 to 300 g per day are recommended.
Unfortunately, many people are allergic to it due to the presence of a protein (actinidin enzyme).- Method 1: peel the kiwi with a knife or vegetable peeler
With a knife or vegetable peeler, peel the kiwi starting from the stalk. Once the peel has been removed, cut it into slices and serve.
- Method 2: peel the kiwi with a teaspoon
On a plane, lay a kiwi horizontally. Divide the kiwi in half by making a cut from top to bottom. Lift one half and hold it in your hands, with the pulp side facing up. Gently insert a teaspoon between the peel and the pulp. Slide the teaspoon along the edge clockwise, turning the kiwi in the opposite direction (counterclockwise): peeling will be easier the more ripe the kiwi is.
- Method 3: peeling the kiwi with a glass
Arrange a kiwi on a plane and cut it horizontally (lengthwise). With a knife, cut the stalk. Place the kiwi (on the side without the stalk) on the edge of a glass, taking care to insert it between the peel and the pulp. Try to slide the edge of the glass along the perimeter of the kiwi, then exert a slight pressure and slide the pulp inside the glass. Also in this case, the peeling will be easier the more ripe the kiwi is.

Kiwi is a fruit belonging to the VII food group. It has an energetic value which, in its context, is halfway between summer and winter fruits. In fact, it is a typically autumn and winter product.
The energy of kiwifruit comes mainly from simple carbohydrates, that is fructose, followed by proteins with a low biological value and unsaturated fats.
Kiwifruit provides an "excellent quantity of fiber (which participates in its laxative effect) and does not contain cholesterol. It does not even contain lactose and gluten.
Rich in vitamins (especially ascorbic acid) and minerals (including potassium), kiwifruit can also be consumed daily. The only contraindications for taking this product concern: presence of diarrhea, severe diverticulosis (which, in the presence of non-digestible food residues such as seeds, often triggers acute diverticulitis) and specific food allergy.
The average portion of kiwifruit is around 200g (120kcal).
