Preparation
- Prepare the shortcrust pastry base. In a bowl, sift the white flour together with the wheat starch, then add the sugar, baking powder, an egg, a pinch of salt, butter at room temperature and 2 tablespoons of liqueur to taste. it is too compact, add a little milk.
The non-alcoholic alternative
As an alternative to liqueur, you can use flavors of your choice such as vanilla essence, lemon peel, etc.- Divide the dough into 3 or 4 pieces: dye each piece with some dyes fed to taste (eg green, blue, red).
- Knead with your hands to distribute the dye evenly.
- Wrap the pastry in plastic wrap and let it rest in the fridge for half an hour.
- Sprinkle the work surface with a thin layer of flour, then roll out the dough with a rolling pin to obtain a thickness of a few millimeters.
- With a pasta cutter, cut strips a little less than half a centimeter wide.
- Grease some steel cones (the molds used to prepare cannoncini) with melted butter and sprinkle the surface with flour. Alternatively, brush the cones with a release agent for pans.
The alternative to cones
Those who do not have cones for cannoncini can use cylinders made by rolling the baking paper and fixing it with a stapler. The strips of dough must then be rolled onto the cylinder obtained.- Wrap each strip of shortcrust pastry along the cone, taking care not to overlap the edges: the goal is to create a curl of shortcrust pastry. Together with streamers, confetti can be made by cutting the shortcrust scraps with a small, round pastry cutter.
- Proceed in this way with the other pieces of pastry.
- Preheat the oven to 180 ° C (static) and bake the first streamers for 10-12 minutes, being careful not to cook them for too long.
- Remove from the oven, allow to cool and remove the streamers from the molds. Repeat the procedure with the other pastry to get more streamers.
- Serve and sprinkle with powdered sugar to taste.
Alice's comment - PersonalCooker
Baking, surely, makes these sweet streamers less sinful. If, on the other hand, you love gluttony, try frying your creations and serve them during a carnival-style party!Nutritional values and Health Comment on the recipe
