- Collect the hazelnuts in a pan and toast them for a few minutes, maintaining a medium heat.
- Chop the hazelnuts together with the sugar to obtain an impalpable powder.
Did you know that ...
Adding sugar to the hazelnuts inside the blender is an excellent tip to make chopping easier, preventing the hazelnuts from turning into cream.- Mix the sugar and hazelnut powder with the white flour, add the baking powder, a pinch of salt and flavor with vanilla essence. In the center, add the wet ingredients (seed oil, egg and milk) and mix to obtain a soft and easily workable paste.
- Wrap the dough in a sheet of cling film and let it rest for half an hour.
- After the necessary time, cut the dough into 4 pieces and obtain, from each, long cords, with a diameter of about 1 cm.
- Cut the cords into pieces of 8-10 cm and, with your hands, fold them to obtain “U” shapes.
- Transfer the horseshoe-shaped cookies to a baking sheet lined with parchment paper.
- Bake the cookies at 160 ° C for 15 minutes, or until golden brown.
- Remove from the oven and allow to cool completely.
- Chop the dark chocolate, collect it in a bowl and add a couple of tablespoons of milk. Melt the mixture in the microwave or in a water bath.
- Dip the ends of the horseshoe biscuits in the melted chocolate and place on a sheet of baking paper. Leave to harden in the fridge.
- The horseshoe biscuits are ready: they can be stored in a tin box, in a cool and dry environment, for 4 weeks.

For Christmas, prepare a tray of mixed biscuits: along with the "horseshoes", there will be biscuits with chestnut flour, ox-eye biscuits and alchermes peaches!
