Generality
Fentanyl - also known as fentanyl or fentanyl - is an opiate drug derived from morphine, the famous alkaloid extracted from the opium poppy. Compared to its precursor - which already boasts strong analgesic properties - it has a 30-80 times higher effect, but a shorter "half-life (about one" hour against the three of morphine).
Fentanyl - Chemical Structure
Fentanyl is generally administered before or after surgery - as an anesthetic or as a postoperative sedative / analgesic - and in the treatment of chronic pain of tumor origin.
Fentanyl is available in pharmaceutical formulations suitable for oral, inhaled, transdermal (through the application of a transdermal patch) and parenteral administration.
