Vincristine is a natural molecule isolated for the first time from the plant Catharanthus roseus (or Vinca rosea), perhaps better known as Madagascar periwinkle.
Vincristine is used in the treatment of various types of cancers. It is considered a very important drug, so much so that it is included in the list of essential drugs drawn up by the World Health Organization (WHO).
