Clindamycin is an antibiotic belonging to the class of lincosamides. It has a spectrum of action very similar to that of macrolides and is mainly used to treat infections caused by Gram-positive cocci and various types of anaerobic bacteria.
Clindamycin is also very useful in treating infections from Propionibacterium acnes.
