L carnitine
Pantothenic acid (Vitamin B5)

One dose (3ml measuring cap) contains:
L-Carnitine 200 mg - trimethylated amino acid derivative, mainly synthesized in the liver and kidney from two essential amino acids, such as methionine and lysine. The biological role of carnitine is now well established: this molecule is able to bind long-chain fatty acids and convey them through a membrane transporter into the mitochondrial matrix, where they undergo the oxidative process (with energy production).
During physical exercise carried out at 50 - 60% of VO2 max, fatty acids represent the main energy substrate to support performance; however, the physiological reduction of non-esterified carnitine levels, which occurs during the exercise itself, affects significantly on the maintenance of the oxidative, and therefore aerobic, capacities of the muscle subjected to stress, favoring the increase in glucose metabolism, which in turn further inhibits lipid oxidation (reducing the activity of the transporter for acyl carnitine). A muscle well supplied with carnitine could therefore better support lipid oxidation, saving muscle glycogen as an energy source. Carnitine, moreover, during intense lipid oxidation can regulate the AcetylCoA / CoA ratio by binding acetyl groups, therefore on the one hand avoiding the accumulation of acetyl groups, potentially harmful to the cell, and on the other hand increasing the availability of CoA, which is important for keeping the flow rate of the citric acid cycle high and thus favoring the production of energy
Pantothenic acid (Vitamin B5) 2 mg - also known as calcium pantothenate, it is part of the synthesis of Coenzyme A (ATP + VitB5 + Cys), which plays a key role in all the reactions in which the transfer of an acyl group takes place (oxidative decarboxylation of pyruvate, α-ketoglutarate and oxidation of fatty acids). It therefore plays a central role in both glucose and lipid metabolism, ensuring the positive control of the stages limiting oxidative processes.
This vitamin is easily introduced through the diet, found mainly in whole grains and in products of animal origin; consequently, there are no shortages in the well-fed population. Its daily requirement is estimated at around 6 mg, but it can definitely increase in particular categories such as athletes.
Product features Carnitine Liquid - Ultimate nutrition
This supplement offers an alternative form to capsules, namely the liquid form, which could be advantageous for those with swallowing problems and for the fastest transit of the digestive tract. However, the bioavailability seems to be the same as the capsule form (14/18%), significantly reduced compared to the dietary one.
The association with vitamin B5, could increase the levels of CoA, and enhance the cellular oxidative capacities. For the record, a 1996 study, however not subsequently studied, shows how the association of B vitamins, and in particular of the Choline, may increase the renal reabsorption of carnitine, increasing its blood concentration.
How to use recommended by the company - Carnitine Liquid - Ultimate nutrition
Take one dose (measuring cap) of 3ml once a day
Directions for use in sports Carnitine Liquid - Ultimate nutrition
The liquid form lends itself well to modulating the dosage, considering that in sports this can go up to 2.5 grams of L carnitine per day, despite the ministerial guidelines recommend a dose not exceeding 200 mg / day. Very high doses are useless, given the increased degradation in the intestine and the reduced reabsorption in the kidney. In sports this supplement is generally used for:
- Increase lipid metabolism and facilitate fat loss;
- Improve lipid oxidative metabolism, saving muscle glycogen;
- Reduce muscle lactic fermentation, therefore also the sensation of fatigue;
- Facilitate recovery
Furthermore, in a 2006 article, it was noted that carnitine supplementation in men undergoing physical exercise increased the expression of testosterone receptors in the muscles.
Rationale for use - Carnitine Liquid - Ultimate nutrition
The literature shows very conflicting studies on the efficacy of carnitine. The benefits of supplementation for those suffering from known diseases characterized by a deficiency of this substance are certain and documented. On the other hand, we get lost in the critical reading of the various articles published on the role. of carnitine supplementation in healthy individuals. Many studies, in fact, do not report any advantage in terms of athletic performance, weight loss and decrease in oxidative markers, while other studies show an increase in aerobic potential with a reduction in oxidative stress. However, it should be noted that these latest studies associate carnitine with controlled diets and intense and planned physical exercise ... but what is the role of carnitine in these benefits? What is the role of physical exercise? Which is the diet? Certainly, in order to record a benefit in terms of aerobic capacity, an increase in lipid metabolism, and therefore loss of fat mass, it is as clear as it is obvious to have to inevitably associate carnitine supplementation with a targeted diet program and mainly aerobic exercise.
