What are
Pheromones (or pheromones) are chemical substances produced by some organisms and released into the external environment to induce a certain behavioral activity in members of the same species; we could therefore compare pheromones to chemical messengers, capable of replacing speech and writing to regulate social relations between animals.
Pheromones, particularly important for mammals and some insects, can cause different behavioral reactions; some, for example, are secreted with the purpose of marking the territory, others to communicate the presence of food and still others as a sexual attraction. The latter can be reproduced in the laboratory and used in integrated biological control to upset the sexual activity of harmful insects or attract them into specific traps.
Human pheromones
Humans also appear to produce small amounts of sex pheromones, but their social importance is diminished.
The synthesis of these messengers is entrusted to the apocrine glands, in particular to those present behind the ear, in the axillary cavity and in the genital area. In recent years, several studies have followed one another with the aim of investigating the role of pheromones in human relationships; it seems that these substances can influence sexual preferences on the basis of the genetic affinities between the two individuals; all this with the aim of guaranteeing the evolution of the species.
Pheromone spray
It should be noted the presence on the market of numerous pheromone-based sprays that promise to increase sexual attractiveness. Obviously there is no scientific evidence capable of supporting such claims, but the product could still have the desired effect by acting indirectly on a psychic level. In fact, relying on the alleged sexual appeal of synthetic pheromones, the individual could show himself more self-confident and thus make himself more attractive in the eyes of his interlocutor.
