DUAC® is a drug based on Benzoyl Peroxide + Clindamycin phosphate
THERAPEUTIC GROUP: Anti-acne preparations for topical use
Indications DUAC ® Benzoyl Peroxide + Clindamycin
DUAC® is used in the treatment of moderate and severe acne vulgaris, especially in the presence of inflammatory lesions.
Mechanism of action DUAC ® Benzoyl Peroxide + Clindamycin
DUAC® is a medicinal specialty that combines the therapeutic activity of two different active ingredients such as Benzoyl Peroxide and Clindamycin, thus enhancing the therapeutic and anti-acne potential.
More precisely, Benzoyl peroxide performs both a direct antiseptic action against Propionibacterium acnes and a modest exfoliating and keratolytic action, while Clindamycin, by inhibiting the 23 S ribosomal subunit, blocks protein synthesis and therefore the proliferation of Gram positive bacteria among the such as precisely P. acnes, carrying out at the same time a sensitive sebostatic action, important in reducing the sebaceous hypersecretion typical of acne pathology.
The combination of these two different active ingredients proved to be decidedly more effective than monotherapies, in regulating sebum secretion and inhibiting bacterial proliferation while also controlling the extent of inflammatory lesions.
