The genre Eucalyptus includes about 500 species.
bitter. they cause deformation and fall of young leaves, feeding on the sap of young shoots.and cosmetics is represented by the leaves, harvested in June-July or September-October: they come off one by one and the stalk is removed. They are dried in the shade and in an airy place, avoiding the sun. They are kept in glass containers away from light.
Active ingredients: essential oil (eucalyptol), flavonoids.
and slightly sweating and febrifugal. Eucalyptus is indicated in bronchial catarrhs and in asthma and is one of the most effective plants against respiratory tract diseases.
Eucalyptus possesses secretolytic and secretomotor activity; it (like the thymus) is recognized by some as having some antiseptic properties.
Eucalyptus is contraindicated in severe liver disease and inflammatory diseases of the intestinal tract; in rare cases it can cause nausea and diarrhea.
Charcoal from wood is used in case of accidental poisoning, spoiled food and treats diarrhea and colitis.
The external use has a good antiseptic and healing action.
Eucalyptus also appears to be effective in the treatment of diabetes and problems with halitosis, sores and burns.
In cosmetics it is used as a deodorant and purifier of impure skin, to prepare toothpastes and soap bars.
The eucalyptus foliage is used for flower arrangements, lasting a long time.
