Quinine: What it is used for, how and when to use it

Quinine-based medicines for oral administration can be dispensed in pharmacies upon presentation of a repeatable medical prescription and their cost is fully borne by the citizen (class C drugs); those for parenteral use, on the other hand, are used in particularly serious cases and must be administered only by specialized health personnel, so much so that they are reserved for hospital use only.
