Sertraline is an antidepressant drug belonging to the class of selective serotonin reuptake inhibitors.
Two chiral centers are present in the molecular structure of sertraline and only the S, S (+) isomer is marketed; the other R, R; R, S; and S, R isomers inhibit serotonin reuptake only to a limited extent.
