How to start programming
The training for athletics must be the fruit of the union between scientificity and inventiveness / experience of the coach.
First of all, it is essential that the training program for athletics is customized on the subject to be trained, therefore it is NEVER possible to ignore the initial analysis of the athlete / sportsman and his hunting goals.
- Federal category of belonging and related technical programs of the category, obviously only if it is a competitor
- Level of conditional and technical skills, highlighting gaps or weaknesses
- Fundamental and secondary skills specific to the main athletics specialty
- Performance increase margin over the next season.
Apparently extraneous but in any case strongly correlated to the success of the program, the evaluation of non-sporting commitments; a student, a company manager and a craftsman will NEVER have the same availability of time or resources to invest in athletics training. Furthermore, in the case of an agonist, it is extremely important to define the competition calendar on the which (as we will see) the entire annual program is based.
Not least, the choice of athletic qualities to be developed based on nature cyclical or acyclic discipline (definition based on the kinetic technique of athletic movement); the acyclic disciplines (jumps and throws) are different especially for the executive nature of the technical gesture, mind the preparation of conditional skills it is quite similar. On the contrary, in the cyclical disciplines (various types of running) the technical differences (albeit existing and well known) are of lesser importance in comparison with the specific conditional aspect.
"What" and "what" are the skills / qualities to train?
The performance of athletics is achieved through the combination of multiple capacities, both physical and psychological, to be cataloged as follows:
- Conditional skills: quickness, strength, speed, resistance to speed, endurance and flexibility.
- Coordination skills: general dexterity and specific dexterity (expression of the motor heritage in general and on the specific gesture).
Except for the force, the method of development of conditional and coordinative abilities is PECULIAR in every single discipline of athletics. NB Strength with its variants, unlike other conditional abilities, can be solicited similarly and will be described in a separate article.
The specialties of athletics - outdoor exercises
Every sportsman who practices athletics plays different specialties but, usually, only one or two of these are MAIN. For example, a hurdler can also try his hand at the 100m flat or relay race, but his annual schedule will focus on achieving maximum performance in his specialty.
